A financial crisis can happen to anyone. These challenges are often due to unforeseen circumstances, such as a job loss or illness. New Jersey SHARES provides relief to people, who are not eligible for other types of assistance.
Our Mission New Jersey SHARES, Inc. is a statewide non-profit corporation primarily providing assistance to individuals and families in need of help meeting their energy and utility burden. Through education, information, referral, advocacy and community outreach we also connect low and moderate income households with available resources. NJ SHARES is the only statewide, nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization which provides grants to pay the energy and utility bills of households in need, through a statewide network of more than 250 community-based social service agencies operating out of 315 sites. Imagine what you might do with extra money in your pocket. If you are eligible, Medicare Savings Programs can pay your Part B Medicare premiums, a savings of $96.40 or $110.50 each month. The Low Income Subsidy(LIS) provides extra help to qualified low income beneficiaries by paying the Part D monthly premium, the annual deductible, coinsurance and copays. Benefit levels vary by income. With LIS there is no Part D coverage gap known as the "donut hole".
