NEW JERSEY SHARES IS A NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATION CHARGED WITH
A MISSION TO PROVIDE ASSISTANCE TO INDIVIDUALS AND FAMILIES
LIVING IN NEW JERSEY WHO ARE IN NEED OF TEMPORARY HELP IN PAYING
THEIR UTILITY BILLS.
The first 99 grants were awarded in 1998 – Average grant was $206

NJS network includes 148 community partners offering 199 intake sites
A FINANCIAL CRISIS CAN HAPPEN TO ANYONE,
REGARDLESS OF AGE, INCOME OR FAMILY SITUATION.
These challenges are often due to unforeseen circumstances, such as
a job loss or illness. New Jersey SHARES provides relief to people,
who are not eligible for other types of assistance.
New Jersey SHARES is the only statewide, nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization
which provides grants to pay the utility bills of households in need through a
statewide network of more than 148 community-based social service agencies.
