A Meeting of Heat and Ice for NJ SHARES

In celebration of our 20th anniversary year, NJ SHARES teamed up with the New Jersey Devils and Prudential Center for Cool Down for Warmth, presented by PSE&G on February 1 and 2. The two-day fundraising event, featured a 10 x 14-foot Ice House carved by world-renowned ice carver Ed Jarrett and his wife Bette of Bette and Eddie Art Unlimited.

A Message from Jim Jacob, NJ SHARES' President & CEO

The Ice House showcased the critical importance of heat in the winter and working utilities year-round.  We celebrated the 185,000 households who we have been able to assist over the last twenty years and raised more than $220,000 to assist households in need during this record breaking cold winter.  We could not have done this without the help of local business leaders, sponsors, utility partners and individuals from the community.

The funds raised through the Cool Down for Warmth event will provide assistance for approximately 600 New Jersey households who are among the 40 percent of the state’s population living paycheck to paycheck and struggling to pay their utility bills due to a temporary financial hardship. The amount raised includes matching donations from NJ SHARES partnering utility companies. Donations are still being accepted – those interested can contribute by visiting: njshares.org/donate.

I am overwhelmed by the support we have seen from our sponsors, event partners, Board members, friends and staff who turned our Ice House event into a reality.  The event’s success would not be possible without the hard work, dedication and vision of all those involved.

On behalf of all the individuals and families that NJ SHARES assists throughout the state, I extend my heartfelt thanks and gratitude to all for helping us make a real difference in the lives of so many.

Warm regards,

Jim Jacob

PSE&G's Power Team Shows Up in Full Force for NJ SHARES

The 10' by 14' Ice House just wasn't big enough fit the PSE&G Power Team in it all at once! Team Icy Hot, one of the PSE&G employee teams who also exceeded their fundraising goals, sparked additional donations at the Ice House during their Zumbathon event led by Santiago Valdez. The Zumbathon heated up the plaza in front of the Ice House!

The Competition Heated Up; New Jersey Natural Gas Raised nearly $40,000!

Many of our participants exceeded their fundraising goals, including New Jersey Resources’ Kathy “Ice Queen” Ellis and Craig “Iceberg” Lynch, whose competition motivated their stakeholders, employees and communities’ interest in banishing one of the company’s top executives into the Ice House for 30 minutes. They far exceeded their $3,000 goal and raised $37,380!
