Jim Jacob, President and CEO
We are excited to announce the energy program has hit a milestone achievement. NJ SHARES has assisted 175,000 households with more than $69.3 Million in energy assistance funds since 1998.
Once again we are grateful to our donors who continue to give more at a time when most have less. Your contributions are an important part of the foundation NJ SHARES has built to respond to calls for energy and utility assistance. We are also grateful to the seven regulated utility companies who match their customer contributions dollar for dollar in addition to contributing to NJ SHARES administration cost.
We look at challenges that lie ahead for 2013 and we know we cannot rise to the occasion alone. At NJ SHARES we are working together with our 270 agency partners on the Fighting Poverty with Faith campaign to urge the State Government to adopt policies and programs that address the foreclosure crisis and urge the Federal Government to fund the National Housing Trust Fund.
In addition to the work we do for the energy program, our client services call center has taken more than 87,000 calls to assist Verizon customers with the Communications Lifeline Program application and recertification process. We continue our important work providing water assistance to New Jersey American Water customers at home and United Water customers in New Jersey and seven additional states.
Thank you to all our partners and friends, your support enables our neighbors’ well being in a rough economic climate and a dangerous season to go without heat and light. I wish you all the best for the year ahead.
Minor Application Changes in the New Year
Typical of the year end system roll over, we use the fresh-slate opportunity to make system enhancements and tweaks to the application and useful tool documents. These updates will take effect on January 2 and will be available for download on that date. Expect a system email with all the details.
